Alte/Afro R&B music act, Tee Kae returns with the spellbinding single, “Sour Lips.”
Born Madeleine Badu, Tee Kae is a Ghanaian-French singer and songwriter, who discovered her passion and love for the arts, particularly music, at a young age. Influenced by iconic artistes such as, Alicia Keys and H.E.R, she sang in and led her church music group. Tee Kae has since embarked on a journey to craft her own unique sound, blending Afro-R&B, Soul, Indie and Trap with Alté rhythms. The music she creates comes across as an artistic fusion, that effortlessly weaves her native languages and French, setting her apart as a truly versatile music act.
Tee Kae’s musical journey erupted with an array of compelling acoustic covers of popular songs, highlighting her strong vocal ability and musical finesse. Following a transformative year of introspection and growth, she emerged from a real period of creative hibernation with renewed purpose and artistic clarity. Tee Kae currently, has released a total of six singles, unveiling her first single, “Trouble,” back in 2023 under her independent imprint BLUWEIV. The truly soulful and captivating track made a firm lasting impression, serving as a testament to her talent and artistry, leaving an indelible mark on the music scene, and touting her as a rising star to watch.
Now, the gifted act returns with a brand new single, titled “Sour Lips.” Backed by a sultry soundscape, and clocking in with a span of over two minutes, Tee Kae delivers a stunning vocal performance. Her warm, soft vocals take solid control of the track, glossing over the laid back, rhythmic R&B driven production. “Sour Lips” deftly comes across as a heartfelt reflection on heartbreak and its emotional aftermath, currently being experienced by Tee Kae. It’s a well written track that sees the singer diving headfirst into her feelings, leading with raw vulnerability.
Lyrics such as, “I gave you my life, lost my balance, A fragile heart, left in fragments,” further accentuates the state of affairs, highlighting the emotional weight of the song. She shows off her multilingualism in the language of love (french), towards the conclusion of the single, letting her emotions run free with uninhibited honesty. While many tracks speak on heartache and the pain, sadness and frustration that comes with it, few capture it with the same relatability and sincerity as “Sour Lips.”
