Tessa Dalton’s new single, “Whiplash,” scratches an itch.
Nashville-based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Tessa Dalton, has released her latest dreamy, alt-pop single, “Whiplash.” The new track is centered around a “situationship“ i.e an undefined relationship with signs of genuine feelings but lacking any real commitment and clear boundaries, and is Tessa’s seventh release in as many months.
The emerging music act grew up on a small family farm and got her start playing the fiddle, guitar, and singing regularly with her sisters and cousins. Speaking about the single, “Whiplash,” Tessa Dalton explained, “some relationships go too fast and are destined to run out of gas, leaving you with whiplash and wondering if you could ever change to make it work.” The production on “Whiplash” flips between a soothing double vocal, connected to a satisfying double guitar, taking a swift hard turn to a driving alt-rock chorus, that deftly mirrors the emotional turbulence of the lyrics. This results in a blend of chill rhythm and rock-edged sonic landscape, that should surely scratch an itch for anyone needing a dose of alternative pop-rock, to cope with their relationship drama.
Asides writing and singing “Whiplash,” she also plays the guitar on the track, co-producing the record with Randy Slaugh and Ken Dudley. “Whiplash” is the latest release from Dalton’s side project, which is to write, record and release a new single every month. It’s one of her best tunes this year and we implore you to listen to “Whiplash,” out now on all platforms.
