London based music act, CHOZE joins forces with Hitman Hyper, Ears, Shai Sevin, Lionart, Corps and Barrington Levy, for the remix of his hot tune, “Wake Up.”

As they say, “if you’re going through hell, keep going.” It’s a deep mantra that has been the foundation upon which avant-garde rapper, CHOZE has steadily built his underground empire. The London-based artiste, at first, was travelling down quite a different path in life; his success was born of a failure that saw him have to build his self-esteem from the ground up. As a teenager, he had been scouted to train for professional football teams from Millwall to Queen’s Park Rangers, but an ankle injury saw his untimely retirement from the sport. It was then that CHOZE decided to pursue his most abiding passion: music. It was a constant in his home growing up, with a music-loving family imprinting the epic grooves of Michael Jackson into his childhood memories, unknowingly shaping the trajectory of his future career. It wasn’t until when a family member, Neutrino, half of the DJ and MC garage duo Oxide & Neutrino, skyrocketed to notable success with their game-changing Number One UK single “Bound 4 Da Reload (Casualty)”, that CHOZE knew this was what he wanted to do.

He started to cut his teeth on the influential pirate radio stations, such as Deja Vu FM and Delight FM. It was certainly a truly thriving underground scene, and through this community and its DIY spirit, CHOZE suddenly found a safe space to gain the confidence he needed to start recording his own music. He started to gain traction networking and recording demos, and was later approached by Virgin Records to sign a record deal with a boy band. Despite the commercially tempting offer, CHOZE knew the music they wanted him to create, did not represent him as a musician. It would be his genre-defying track, “Sell My Soul (I Won’t)”, featuring another act, Max Stone, generating a quarter of a million views on YouTube, which would garner praise from music critics across the board. It placed him as one of hip-hop’s most exciting rising stars.

For his latest release, he taps up the likes of Ears, Shai Sevin, LIONART, Hitman Hyper, CORPS and Barrington Levy, to add some gloss and raise the level and energy of his original record, “Wake Up.” The larger than life, energetic production is given a more emphatic soundscape, as the incredibly talented acts all assemble, laying down their verses with enviable confidence. The makeshift crew remind listeners, old and new alike, of their undeniable gift at crafting hip hop gems, telling everyone to “wake up” and pay attention. Impeccable songwriting prowess and flawless pen-game is on full display, as all the involved members do not miss a single beat at all, flowing swiftly and rapidly across a magnetic sonic landscape to great effect. They take turns to deliver aggressive but spirited punchlines, almost as if they were matched up in a boxing ring. A massive amount of credit goes to the producer, for putting together such a dynamic and captivating canvas, for these stars to paint over. They round off the track, just as they started, in a powerful, vigorous fashion.

Over the years, CHOZE has become a big flag bearer for fighting the ongoing knife crime epidemic in London, as his life experiences with hardship have injected his music with an unapologetic grit. From now on, his every move is fully focused on the future. He purely has his sights set on releasing his long-awaited debut LP, called “DIY”, and not only is it a bold, definitive statement on CHOZE’s solid identity as an artiste, but it also recaptures the essence of the era that raised him and shaped his sound, while boasting an incredible line-up of producers and music acts alike.
