Nigerian Idol winner, Evelle, drops soul-stirring track, “Venison.”
Singer and songwriter, Evelle makes her triumphant return to the music scene with the release of her debut EP, “Come Back” — a seven-track collection that showcases her evolution as an artiste and her message of resilience.
Born Evelyn Ibhade Zibili, the singer and songwriter first won a lot of hearts, back in 2010, as part of a victorious quartet in the Nestlé African Revelation contest in Dakar. The singer’s star continued to rise when she clinched the Nigerian Idol crown in 2014, setting up the stage and paving the way for a promising career that includes a 2018 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award for Best Soundtrack and the role as a judge on Amazing Voices Africa in 2020.
Her project, “Come Back” represents a fresh chapter in Evelle’s journey, following her recent dual-pack single release. The EP features tracks like “Fire,” which delve into matters of the heart, while “Shower Your Blessings” and “Better” deliver uplifting messages of hope. The singer’s collection concludes with the empowering “Show Me,” encouraging listeners to embrace their authentic selves.
“Venison” comes in as track number 3 on the EP, standing out as a major highlight across the project. Similar to “Fire,” it’s another tune that delves into the matters of the heart. It’s a love song that explores complexity in romance, vulnerability, and strength. “Venison” is a bit more or less a confession of love to someone special, all wrapped up in a beautiful soundscape, as Evelle fearlessly bares all her emotions.
Intimate yet bold, this fresh release frames vulnerability not as a weakness, but as a testament to strength — a willingness to confront a romantic experience with strong, deep emotions and transform it all into art. The track is a powerful statement from a rising act who is finally not afraid to show her real self.
