Brooklyn-based pop singer and songwriter, Maddie Regent stuns with “Sleeptalking.”
Hailing from Toronto and currently based in New York City, Maddie Regent first started making music at the age of 12. As an introverted child, music became a sort of outlet for self expression, helping the singer navigate anxiety and find strength in her vulnerability. After years of refining her sound, she has now found the perfect balance between escapist pop anthems and raw, honest songwriting.
Maddie Regent’s single, “Sleeptalking,” marks the start of a fresh chapter for the rising star. Since releasing her sophomore EP, “Girl of Your Dreams,” in late 2023, she has been hard at work compiling a fresh batch of meticulously crafted pop tracks. “Sleeptalking” is the first of many singles that Maddie has since created with her partner, producer and songwriter, Cade Hoppe in their home studio in Brooklyn, featuring additional production from Harper James of Eighty Ninety.
Layering sweet organic instrumentation with beautiful and shimmering synth-pop production, “Sleeptalking” delivers a true sound that’s both grounded and ethereal. Maddie’s effortlessly dreamy vocals and hypnotic melodies weave through these lush sonic layers, enveloping listeners in a cocoon of emotion.
She expands on the meaning behind the song: “Sleeptalking” is about wanting to be happy about something you should be happy about—but you aren’t.” Maddie continues to speak on the song, “And the longer you avoid confrontation, the more you wish for things to go south so your unhappiness feels justified. It’s classic self-sabotage and you know it.”
Fueled by steadfast determination and an abundance of talent, as well as an arsenal of new songs ready to share, Maddie Regent is undoubtedly an artiste to watch.
