Few musical acts can capture the zeitgeist quite like Toronto-based act, sunsetto (aka Kyle Mischiek). Growing up on Cape Breton Island on Nova Scotia, sunsetto split his time between creating music and skateboarding, building a strong base and community through both. After attempting (and quitting) guitar and piano lessons, he started rapping and making beats back in high school, later attending multiple songwriting camps to continue to hone his skills and to refine his art in general.
While his sound is full-on forward-thinking pop—drawing from a mix of genres such as dance, rap, R&B and modern country—his lyrical themes tend to dip and twist from lighthearted to deeply introspective.
sunsetto’s delightfully chilled duet “DON’T LEAVE ME BEHIND,” with the talented R&B singer-songwriter Sinéad Harnett, has its production helmed by the award-winning producer, Tim Suby (Drake, Eminem, Travis Scott, Beyonce, DJ Khaled, Jessie Reyez), who also did the co-writing with Bibi Bourelly (Rihanna, Miley Cyrus).
The mesmerizing track is a stunning blend of heartfelt lyricism and contemporary production, serving as a testament to the way in which sunsetto’s finger is on the pulse of a fresh generation of music fans, as he steadily gears up for a promising chapter in his career.
