Danish music act, Alexander Grandjean releases new single, “Babylon” off his new album, “Chasing Silence.”
Alexander Grandjean is a producer, singer and songwriter from Denmark, who recently announced the release of his latest track, “Babylon,” off the brand new indie folk album, “Chasing Silence.” The new record delves into the challenges of yearning for a conscious, slow, and simple life while navigating the complexities of modern society. “Chasing Silence” features a solid, stimulating artwork that shows two hands holding the fermata symbol – the musical sign for a pause – representing a moment of stillness in a fast-paced world.
“Babylon” starts off the exquisite listening experience on the project in a supremely brilliant fashion. With a serene soundscape and Alexander’s incredibly soothing vocal performance, the fresh track, “Babylon” explores various themes of introspection and the juxtaposition of serenity and chaos. It delves into the sound space that exists between melancholia and hope, driven by acoustic classical guitars, groovy and moody bass lines and soulful, emotive beats. As the song unfolds, lush reverbs with occasional orchestral elements are introduced, adding a fresher and much richer layer to the musical arrangement, elevating the entire composition even further.
As an album, “Chasing Silence” poses questions rather than answers. Meaning isn’t found at the finish line but along the road, and the record puts the listener into Grandjean’s process along his journey, rather than at the conclusion. Alexander Grandjean says about his new project: “I think distractions and anxiety have gotten a little bit out of control. I’m here to slow things down and to remind myself and everybody else that we need to find ways to live more harmoniously and in sync with nature.” Listen to “Babylon” off the new album, “Chasing Silence,” it’s available now on all major streaming platforms.
