Independent singer-songwriter, Chloë Wilson returns with the new release, “Piece of a Lover.” Following the truly immense poetic vulnerability of “Broken Me,” this second single from her upcoming debut EP, explores a grittier, more defiant sound, while continuing to centre emotional storytelling at its core.
Born in Milton Keynes, England, and raised on a steady diet of classic pop and rock, Chloë began her musical journey pretty early. She started writing songs and performing anywhere she could find a stage. Today, her songwriting blends clarity with emotional depth, offering snapshots of young adulthood that are grounded, honest, and intensely human.
Framed as a two-part narrative, “Piece of a Lover” opens from the perspective of the heartbreaker before shifting to the voice of the person left behind. This structural change is mirrored in the arrangement, beginning with warmth and restraint before building towards a bold, dramatic climax. The result is a powerful track that captures the contradictions of heartbreak; the intimacy, tension, and slow build to catharsis.
Drawing inspiration from early 2000’s guitar-driven pop and the glamour of ’70s rock, “Piece of a Lover” weaves layered guitars with a Hammond organ and piano chords to create a sonic palette that feels both nostalgic and fresh.
