Rising indie-pop songstress, Maddie Regent reveals her new single, “The Other Shoe.”Following standout tracks like “Turtleneck,” “The wolf,” “You could break my heart,” and “Sleeptalking,” this new release further paves the way for her highly anticipated debut album, On the phone with my mom, arriving May 16th.
Maddie’s latest body of work opens with a simple guitar line, before erupting into a frenetic, effervescent pop anthem. Her sharp songwriting and hypnotic vocals infuse the song with urgency, wrapped in soaring, shimmering melodies. Beneath its infectious energy lies a deep emotional core, capturing the torment of bracing for the incoming and inevitable heartbreak. “You’re constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop—almost hoping it does, so you can finally move on,” Maddie explains. With “The Other Shoe,” she transforms heartache into something bold, cathartic, and undeniably alive.
Originally hailing from Toronto and now living in New York City, Maddie Regent discovered her passion for songwriting at just 12 years old, using music as a powerful outlet to navigate her anxieties and give voice to her innermost thoughts. Working closely with her partner, producer, and songwriter, Cade Hoppe, Maddie has meticulously honed her craft, creating a sound that effortlessly marries catchy pop hooks with raw, unfiltered storytelling.
With her debut album, On the phone with my mom, set for release on May 16th, Maddie Regent is poised to make 2025 her breakout year.
